MISSION STATEMENT

     Guidance and Counseling Department’s Mission is to implement a comprehensive school counseling program to promote student success through academic achievement, promote prevention and intervention activities to provide a safe and nurturing environment, provide social/emotional and career development, and increase student admittance and success in institutions of higher learning.

PERSONAL COUNSELOR’S MISSION STATEMENT

     As the Counselor at O. Salinas Elementary, the care of your children is extremely personal.  The trust to teach, guide and protect them is our principle drive.  I am here for all our students as they meet academic, social, and emotional challenges throughout this school year.  Parents and family are the foundation, so please contact me to bridge our resources for students’ success.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS:  Specific dates of school activities are announced through Class Dojo or Flyer (if recognized at school).  The list is not all-inclusive.

  • August – Return to School
  • September – Grandparent’s Day, National Childhood Cancer Awareness, 
  • October – Drug-Free Week, Fire Prevention Week, Gifted and Talented Nominations 
  • November – Parent Learning Summit at United High School, National Diabetes Month, National Military Family Month
  • December – National Pearl Harbor Day of Remembrance, Christmas Holiday 
  • January –  National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Martin Luther King Day (1/15)
  • February –  Valentine’s Day and Food of Minimal Nutritional Value (2/14)
  • March –  Spring Break (March 11 – 15)
  • April – Easter Holiday
  • May –  STAAR Assessments, End of the Year Awards,  LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
